The Abundant Life Church is not a traditional church and the worship
ministry is just as unconventional. Our style of music has varied of
the years with a multitude of flavors such as: Caribbean, calypso, hymns,
praise choruses, contemporary, spiritual songs. As the community of our
church changed, so did the type of songs progress. As community diversified,
so did the music.
Through the years, we have remained true to what is the current sound
as we communicate the Gospel of Jesus through song. This means the type
of songs will change and vary with the times but the message will not
change.
While we still do a range of songs, our flavor is contemporary. Therefore,
the songs we use at ALC are keys to communicating this sound. We must
communicate to our generations the message of Christ through songs that
will introduce, develop and empower people to faithfully follow Christ
- NOW! People who attend this church must hear the vision of ALC through
the music in today's context.
Our worship embodies our motto at ALC to "build a community to
reach a community".
The worship ministry's role is to prepare a people whose daily lives
display a loving God - "lifestyle worshippers". Worship is
more than a Sunday morning experience. The sound communicated through
the songs ministered at ALC must create a mindset that stays with the
congregation. Whether a member, regular attendee or visitor the songs
must address their lifestyle by reaching them for Christ, raising their
expectation of Him, and releasing them to accomplish their purpose in
life.
The congregation should be encouraged to express their worship in a variety
of methods. The worship team is the model for these expressions. The
team of vocalists and musicians consists of members from the congregation
and students from a local music college. This combination allows for
growth and stability in music and arts.
